Service to Service

Each year, while the Annual Meeting is taking place after the service, the Religious Education Council sponsors a service event for children, youth, and adults who are not members. This is a great opportunity for parents to attend the Annual Meeting while their children are engaged in meaningful activities.

This year the children have identified the Sheridan Prep Playground Fund as a focus of their fundraising activities. Sheridan Prep is an Albany Public School a few blocks away from Albany UU. Some of the adults in our congregation have been volunteering there to help the teachers in the classrooms. The school doesn’t have a playground for the older kids – the kids play running games and play with balls and jump ropes. It would be nice if they had some playground equipment to climb on too. So far our congregation has raised over $7,500- about $500 from fund raising efforts by the children.

For Service to Service, Sunday, May 15, we will be making UU note cards and Perler bead items to sell after the meeting to support the Playground Fund. Look for the table in the lobby to make your purchases.
